Early Fall Update

Hope this finds everyone doing well, and settling into the swing of Autumn. I'm not even really sure where September went at this point! Just wanted to post a quick update letting everyone know what we've been up to lately. Firstly, we're in the thick now of recording "Love In Outer Space" the Sun Ra cover that some of you who have seen us live recently may have heard. We did a first pass of vocals last night, and things are coming together pretty quickly. I'm also finalizing a couple remixes for "Firefly" and "Walk With Me" that I hope to have out in short order. Also, just in case that wasn't enough, I've started contributing to a great music blog called Boom Boom Chik (http://www.boomboomchik.com). It's a very active blog, so drop by once in a while. There's always tons of new material to listen to.

Hello Party People, and Happy August!

We've been having a hot one here in the Northeastern U.S.! Makes for a great excuse to kick back during the evening, sip an icy cocktail and listen to some soulful, laid back grooves. Now I wonder where I could fine some of those?

We have a few exciting things going on this month and just wanted to send out a short note to keep everyone up to date on what Nicole and I have in store. Firstly, the album has been getting some nice exposure via podcasts and music blogs, so we'd like to greatly thank all those who've taken the time to listen to, review, and share our music with others! We even found a soul music podcast in China that played "Chocolate Cake" in one of their recent shows. Still waiting for a translation on what the DJ actually said about us! Fingers crossed that it was positive!

We have two live performances this month which we'd love to see you at. The first is our long overdue Record Release Party. This will be held on August 21st at Wallspace in Kingston, NY. We'll be performing a live set of music from the album and Hudson Valley super DJs Ease and Wavy Davy will be filling out the night with a blend of acid jazz, soul, house, deep funk, and reggae classics. Wallspace is a very chic art gallery style space with a beautiful bar in historic uptown Kingston. Free copy of cd with each $10 cover! Don't miss this great night!

For those down in the NYC area we'll also be doing a short set on Wednesday, August 25th, at People Lounge (163 Allen St.) on the Lower East Side. People Lounge is another cool, intimate space and this night, hosted by local singer Shelita Vaughns, is a very cool hang. Our set should be starting around 7:30 PM. Please mention that you came to see Belle Boussole [bell boo-soul] at the door.

First Album Review!

Hey everybody. We hope you're all well, and enjoying the summer heat (well those of you in the Northern Hemisphere at least!). WRIP - Live In Studio Interview/Performance

We'll be doing a live in-studio performance and interview tonight on WRIP 97.9 FM in Windham, NY. Great Weekend in Newburyport, MA!

We had a fantastic weekend in Newburyport, MA. We went up on Saturday to perform as part of the Tannery Series event "Are You Cool?" which also featured author/poet Major Jackson (http://www.majorjackson.com/) and author Peter Guralnick (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Guralnick). Both were really incredible and entertaining to listen to. Major had written previously about the avant-garde jazz musician Sun Ra, so we did a "Belle Boussole-ized" version of Sun Ra's "Love In Outer" space at the event. The tune went over so well, that we're considering recording it!!! Thanks to everyone who came out. It was wonderful to see some familiar faces, and to meet a bunch of new people!

We'll be playing a few songs from the new album along with some Belle Boussole interpretations of Elvis and Sun Ra this Saturday night at Jabberwocky Books in Newburyport, MA as part of The Tannery Series' "Are You Cool?" event. This event is part of a speaking series which will feature two well known authors who have written on the subject of music. More information can be found using the event link below. For those who don't know, Newburyport is a fantastic town on Boston's North Shore. Come out and see us. I'll bet that we even have a few copies of the new album for sale at the show!
